Probably no business is better known, in North Australia than that fine old store known as Man Fong Lau & Co. The business was established in the year 1888 and for 43 yearns the name has been a household word in North Australia. Mr Lee Sing, (otherwise S. Lee), well and favorably known im Darwin as the manager of the business about nine years ago, when he went to China, has now returned and has resumed the management. He is the eldest son of the original proprietor, the late Lee Chow, and is a native of Darwin. During his absence in China he held some very important positions, and established there with the American, Dr. Mickies and some other prominent bueiness men, the Industrial and Commercial Oil Refining Co., Ltd., in the Chungahan new port of Canton, with a capital of onie, and a half millton Hong Kong dollars. He also established the Kai Tip Motor Road Company in the same district with a capital of 20,000 dollars. In this company he was chairman of directors, and traffic manager, and was also manager of S. Lee & Co., motor supply merchants and distributors of Fond Motor Car and Mohawk Rubber Tyres in Macao of Canton.
Mr Lee Sing is now making many desirable improvements in the appearance of the store and heavy new stocks, personally selected in Eastern and Southem warehouses, are being nicely displayed. He is an enterprising business manager, apparently has every confidence in the future of Darwin and his return to control the business will be welcomed by numerous old residents who had been served so well for so many yeans.
Mr Lee Sing informs us that he will have some important announcements to make in our advertising coiu¡mns as soon as his large new stocks have been properly displayed.
