THEFT OF £65 AT INVERELL

INVERELL, Tuesday.

Late yesterday afternoon £65 in notes and silver was stolen from the offices of Hong Yuen's premises at Inverell. The money was left in a paper packet on the office desk, but another £50, which was in the desk, was not touched. The money was left on the desk by Eddie Fong when it was brought to him from neighbouring business premises. Fong followed the usual practice of leaving the money on the desk while he went to tea. When Fong left the premises he placed a padlock on the door through which he made his exit, and all the other doors were bolted on the inside. When he returned 20 minutes later the money was missing.
